Our natural setting

Five large, purpose-built houses, each with separate yards, provide ample space for children to explore, discover and play. The natural world plays a significant role in programs at Flinders University Child Care Centre; children access outdoor play environments year round, engage in seed-to-table gardening programs, and are involved in caring for the natural environment through sustainability programs. We are positioned off a main road in a bushland setting that is still centrally located and accessible.

Highly skilled educators

Educators at Flinders find their way to early childhood education in a wide range of ways and from a diverse range of fields. Educators may hold initial qualifications in fine arts, interior design, mathematics, accounting, literature and yoga teaching. Many speak multiple languages. These previous experiences and qualifications ensure our educators are multitalented and able to develop diverse and engaging programs of learning. We employ at least one Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) in each of the houses.

We take children’s health and nutrition seriously, recognising that healthy lifestyles are developed in the early years. Meals are carefully planned, seasonal, and made onsite using locally sourced whole food wherever possible.

Meals are vegetarian, with plant-based and allergy specific options, and wherever possible we will cater to children’s individual dietary requirements. Children are involved in the process of growing and preparing food through in-house cooking programs. Please note that we respectfully request that families provide food for children in Baby House due to wide range of approaches regarding weaning.
